When are you reopening and how can I book?
The Strand Hotel Ballyliffin will be open on the 29th of June 2020 and we are currently taking reservations. You can book, by calling +353 (0) 74 93 76107 or on line at www.ballyliffinstrandhotel.com
Are there restrictions on the number of people allowed in the hotel?
The Strand Hotel Ballyliffin has 36 rooms. We will be following government restrictions and all IHF guidelines to ensure your safety. The number of guests allowed at any one time in our hotel, restaurants and bars will be carefully managed to keep in line with government restrictions.
Can I cancel if there is a ‘second wave’?
We recommend that you book on a rate with flexible cancellation terms to give you confidence when booking at this time. Our Book Now, Pay Later offer provides flexible terms and allows you to book with no deposit and cancel right up until the day before your stay with no penalty.
What social distancing measures do you have in place?
At all times, we will be following government restrictions and IHF guidelines in regard to social distancing. Our restaurants, bars and meeting rooms will all be set up in compliance with current regulations and all public areas will have signage and easy to see markings to ensure guests are confident in following the social distancing measures we have in place.
Will you still have a buffet breakfast?
The way we do breakfast has changed in order help to keep you safe. This means things are a bit different and at this stage we are not offering our buffet breakfast. Instead, we are offering a la carte breakfast in the Glashedy Dining Room. Please note that we will not be offering a room service breakfast. As government restrictions continue to change, we will continue to revise our breakfast offering.
Are the restaurants open?
Yes, although some things may be a little different now to ensure all social distancing measures and government restrictions are being followed. Booking is preferred and recommended.
Can we get room service?
For now it is our own Policy not to offer Room Service. We ask that all guests consider booking a table for breakfast where our team will ensure the strictest of social distancing while you enjoy our hospitality and our famous Full Irish Breakfast.
Is parking available?
Parking is Free and there are no restrictions in the car park.
Will Kids be welcome?
Of course yes. We are a Family Run Hotel. We must however for now request that your children remain seated with your party while in public areas. Please also remind your children of the importance of washing their hands.
What is open in the local area?
One of the great things about Inishowen is that many experiences are right on your door step. The beaches are open and there are a number of great walking tracks and play areas throughout Inishowen that can be utilised in a safe, socially distanced manner. Many of our shops and cafes are reopening as are some of the paid attractions like The Famine Village, Wild Alpaca Way, Wild Ireland and the New Water Adventure Park in Moville. Please note that our local Waterfall will not reopen this summer. Many of these are open and have adapted their way of doing business.

As the world adjusts to new travel norms and expectations, we have enhanced the experience for our hotel guests by redefining cleanliness and supporting your personal wellbeing throughout your stay.
Reception: Reduced contact at check-in, touchless transactions, sanitiser stations, sanitised Door Keys, paperless check-out
Public Spaces and Facilities: Additional deep cleaning of high touch surfaces, social distancing, and disinfectant best practices for lounges and public Toilets.
Guest Room: Visible verification of sanitised items (e.g. glassware, remote control), reduction of in-room furnishings/high-touch items, new laundry protocols, Room disinfection pre arrival.
Food & Beverage: New standards and service approach to buffets, banquets, room-service and catering
Supporting the Wellbeing of Guests and Colleagues including:
Enabling the personal wellbeing of guests and colleagues is key. The Strand Hotel Ballyliffin is working closely with The Irish Hotels Federation to develop guidance and resources for our hotel team on returning to work and keeping guests safe in this new environment, which may include:
- Cleanliness information in the hotels
- Social distancing operating procedures and signage
- Guidance on the use of protective equipment as necessary by hotel colleagues
- Updated colleague training and certification
- Availability of individual guest amenity cleaning kits
- Hand sanitiser and disinfecting wipes available in guest rooms and at high-touch points throughout hotels
